Hopping Through History Day Camp

Join SHS's Education and Outreach Manager Allison Henline, Master Teacher Rosemary Nemeth of Gesu School, and Archaeologist Elizabeth Hoag of the Cleveland Institute of Art for an interactive and engaging five-day, in-person, hands-on history camp and field trip to Downtown Cleveland this summer!
Hopping Through History at the Shaker Historical Society promises an exciting hands-on experience for kids in grades 3-8! Campers will be making candles and butter like the Shakers, weaving tapestries and exploring textile art like early settlers, building miniature houses and displays like the Van Sweringens, and so much more! This five-day summer camp will be hosted in-person at SHS and includes a Friday Field Trip aboard the RTA Rapid on a scenic historical tour of Shaker Heights and Downtown Cleveland, including a tour of Terminal Tower, which was developed by the Van Sweringens!
Current CDC safeguards and precautions will be in effect for all in-person activities, including summer camps and programs. All camp staff are fully vaccinated.
Dates: June 21-25 (In-person at SHS)
Monday through Thursday times: 9 am - 1pm (Drop-off and sign-in starts at 8:45am, pick-up and sign-out starts at 12:45pm)
Friday, June 25th Field trip on the Rapid: 9am - 3pm (Drop-off and sign-in starts at 8:45am at SHS, pick-up and sign-out starts at 3:00pm from SHS)

Shaker Dig 7

Join Archaeologist Elizabeth Hoag of the Cleveland Institute of Art, Master Teacher Rosemary Nemeth of Gesu School, and SHS Education & Outreach Manager Allison for Shaker Dig 7, an engaging hands-on archaeology summer camp and learn all about archaeology! Campers will need to wear old clothing and tennis shoes. They are encouraged to use sun block, to bring knee pads and their own water bottles.
