Children's Wild Flower Vase (Printable Activity)
(Suggested age 2-4)
Download the file to the left and print it out to send your child on a wild flower adventure! You can use a hole punch, tooth pick, or metal straw to puncture the paper and insert the wild flowers into the vase.

This recipe requires a 9 inch baking pan and electric beater. Skill level: Intermediate
1 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs (yolks and whites separated)
1 Cup Sour Milk (Butter Milk)
2.5 Cups Flour
Grated Rind of 2 Oranges
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Cup Nut Meats
1 Cup Dates
Pinch of Salt
Instructions: Cream Butter and sugar and add beaten egg yolks. Add flour, sifted with soda, baking powder, and salt, alternately with sour milk. Add grated rind of oranges, nuts, dates, and vanilla. Fold in egg whites, beaten stiff. Bake in greased 9" square pan in a moderate oven for 1 hour. Remove from oven and pour over the following mixture:
1 Cup Sugar
3/4 Cup Orange Juice
Let cool and serve with whipped cream.
