Brianna Treleven was born and raised in the Greater Cleveland area and grew up visiting all the museums and parks Northeast Ohio has to offer. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University with a focus on museum studies, archives, and special collections and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology in fine art photography and art history. Before joining the Shaker Historical Society team in 2020, she worked in numerous museums and special collections in Northeast Ohio and Pittsburgh. Brianna lives in South Euclid and enjoys hiking, native gardening, visiting museums, and trying her best on New York Times crossword puzzles.

Makialani holds a Master’s degree in History with a specialization in Museum Studies from Cleveland State University. She graduated from CSU in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History. Originally from the island of Kaua'i, Makialani spent much of her childhood in Duluth, Minnesota, and she currently resides in Lakewood, Ohio. Her passion for education, art, and history motivates her to make a positive impact in her community. Dedicated to promoting transparency and inclusivity through public history preservation, she is excited to work at the Shaker Historical Society and continue fostering a love of learning for all generations.

Kate is an award-winning communications professional who has experience working in a variety of industries including: non-profit, corporate, and government agencies. She graduated from John Carroll Universtiy with a degree in Communications in 2004. She has worked in Washington DC, Chicago, and Cleveland doing strategic communications, consulting as well as sales and marketing work. Kate loves working with people and learning about their history. Kate lives with her family in Shaker Heights and is excited about working at the Shaker Historical Society and utilizing her communications experience to help raise awareness about this history of our great community!

A Shaker Heights resident, Chuck welcomes guests, shares information about our history and exhibits, and operates the gift shop. He filled this position with extensive experience as a librarian at local universities and museums and as an adjunct history professor at Cuyahoga Community College.

Our Board of Directors is made up of community leaders with a passion for local history. They are dedicated to preserving our history through our museum collections and exhibits, our adult and youth education programs, and our many community activities held on-site and throughout Shaker Heights. While we are a private nonprofit and not subject to Ohio's Open Meetings Act, we voluntarily follow its principles as a best practice. All regular and special board meetings are open to the public. Meeting notices, agendas, and approved minutes are available upon request. Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe board meetings.
