United by Lee is a collaborative initiative led by The Lee-Harvard Memorial Project (CHARP EDucation Consulting, Oh Sew Powerful, Inc., and community members) in partnership with the Shaker Historical Society, Shaker Heights Public Library, and City of Shaker Heights Culture and Engagement Office.
United by Lee is launching a series of events in 2025-2026 to bridge divides, foster dialogue, and strengthen connections between these historically linked neighborhoods.
FABRIC DONATION DROP-OFF: May 1-31, 2026
United by Lee is seeking 10 x 10 inch fabric square donations from communities that were once part of Warrensville Township, including Beachwood, Cleveland Heights, Garfield Heights, Highland Hills, North Randall, Orange, Shaker Heights, University Heights, and Warrensville Heights, as well as the Cleveland neighborhoods of Corlett, Lee-Harvard, Lee-Seville, and Mount Pleasant.
Oh Sew Powerful, Inc. will transform your donated squares into a community quilt. We encourage you to choose fabric that is meaningful to you, whether through its origin (a beloved garment, a family heirloom, a cherished gift) or its symbolism (a pattern, color, or design that represents something personal to you).
Fabric can be dropped off at the Shaker Historical Society, 16740 South Park Blvd, on Wednesday through Sunday during open hours. Additional drop-off locations include:
Frederick Douglass Recreation Center, 15401 Miles Ave: Monday-Saturday 12:30-5:30pm
Heights Libraries - Lee Road Branch, 2345 Lee Rd: Monday-Thursday 9:00am-9:00pm, Friday-Saturday 9:00am-5:30pm, Sunday 1:00-5:00pm
Cleveland Public Library - Harvard-Lee Branch, 16918 Harvard Ave: Monday-Saturday 10:00am-6:00pm
We ask that donors complete a short questionnaire at the time of drop-off. Together, your responses will weave a tapestry of community stories that give the quilt its deeper meaning.
