Camp Timeline: Journey Through Time
Get ready to travel through the ages! Each day at camp focuses on a different era, filled with hands-on activities, expert guests, and engaging discoveries:
Camp Dates: July 13th - 17th; 9:30am - 3:00pm
Monday – Prehistory
Explore Earth’s Ancient Past with an archaeologist. Campers will dig into geology and archaeology to uncover the stories hidden beneath our feet.
Tuesday – 19th Century
Join fiber artist Mary Casey to learn traditional Shaker methods and tools. Campers will identify, sort, card, twist, and spin flax, hemp, cotton, and wool—the same fibers Shakers used to make clothing, towels, and bedding. Each camper will create their own fiber samples to take home.
Wednesday – 20th Century
Step into the era of innovation as we explore the story of the Van Sweringen Brothers and their lasting impact on Cleveland’s architecture and urban design. Campers will examine how buildings and cities tell historical stories.
Thursday – Our Earth Today
Partnering with Rust Belt Riders, we’ll focus on modern conservation and sustainability. Campers will take part in hands-on environmental activities and learn how they can make a difference in their communities.
Friday – Our Past in the Land
Camp concludes with a field trip to Cleveland’s Public Square and Terminal Tower. We’ll explore local landmarks, connect them to the past, and see how history continues to shape our world today.
